I set out to find myself a new contract phone recently and I was amazed to learn that you could now find mobile phones with free laptops if you were prepared to hunt around for a bit! I had heard about some cash back deals in the past which sounded quite appealing, but this sounded almost too good to be true.

I started to have a look at some deals, and the only drawback that I could see was that you generally had to commit to a fairly long contract. Considering that I would probably be getting another contract in twelve months time if I signed up to a short contract, I couldn’t really see the difference! Granted, not all phones are available on these deals, but there are plenty of decent handsets to choose from if you want to find a deal like this.

The first deal that really tempted me was for a Blackberry. There was a Blackberry Torch 3g Orange contract which included a free laptop and the cost of the contract on a monthly basis wasn’t too bad. The phone looked great too, but when I spoke to Orange about the deal, they said that unfortunately my post code didn’t receive good coverage for their phones at that time. This was a big disappointment for me, because I knew that Orange had great signal where I worked, but I wasn’t put off and continued my search.

This eventually lead me to an excellent Nokia N8 Vodafone deal which was every bit the equal of the orange deal, and the N8 looked fantastic! The phone has a superb touch screen which seems to work brilliantly, and the screen itself is big enough to really justify its great 3G connection. The Nokia has been great for me, and the laptop has turned out to be a very nice little freebie indeed!
