Analyze your Competition Before Starting an SEO & Marketing Campaign
Thinking about adding an effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategy to your advertising and marketing campaign this year? Before starting your program, it is important to first know who your online competitors are and what kind of online marketing strategies they are already doing. You will want to take some time to research and analyze your local and national competitors online…before they analyze you first.
Here are some guidelines and questions to consider while performing research on the Internet about your competitors:
Website Design and Layout
· Are your competitors using a search engine friendly Web design, like a basic HTML or ASP site?
· Are they using JavaScript, a dynamically-driven site, frames, or tables that will prevent search engines from properly indexing their sites?
· Are any Web sites built entirely in flash?
· Are their sites easy to navigate with a professional look and feel by using the same font styles and sizes and similar color schemes throughout?
· How heavily are the graphics on the Web site?
· How many Web pages total does each of your competitors have on their site? Does your site need improvement on the amount of content-rich Web pages you have?
· Does the entire Web site focus on one central theme alone?
Placement of Keywords
· Where are your competitors using their chosen keywords? The META title tag? The META description tag? The META keywords tag? In ALT tags? What about in link text and headline tags? The page URL? Image names?
· How often do those keywords appear on each Web page?
· Where does each of their keywords first appear on the pages of each of your competitors sites?
· Are they achieving good rankings for their chosen keywords online in Google, MSN and Yahoo!?
· What is the keyword weight and density of the entire content of your competitors’ pages? Are they keyword spamming?
· What are their chosen keywords being targeted on their sites? Are they single words or long-tail keywords with 3, 4 or even 5 keyword phrases?
Off Page Factors
· Check your competitors Alexa traffic rank and compare with yours. Do they receive more or less Web traffic to their sites, according to Alexa.com?
· What is their Google PageRank? Again, is it higher or lower than yours?
· Go to a reputable link popularity checker online and compare the number of incoming links your site has versus your competitors. How much improvement in link building, if any, does your site need to effectively compete online?
· What types of incoming links are they receiving, how top quality are these links, and how much traffic does a link from these sites generate for your competitors each month?
· Are any of your competitors registered with any popular link directories, like dmoz.org, Yahoo! Directory, Business.com or other similar high traffic directories online?
· Do they have a sign up box for an industry email newsletter on their sites?
Use of Spamming Techniques
· Is the competitor’s site using any spam or unethical search engine practices? If so, what are they?
· Do any of these sites have doorway or gateway pages?
· Do they have same color text on a same color background?
· Are they blatantly keyword spamming?
· Are these sites publicly listed or affiliated with gambling or adult-oriented sites?
Buy Usb 64Gb Drive
Transferring data from one place to another has become very easy thanks to the concept of USB drives. Most of us know what a USB drive is as it is very common and almost everyone of us use one. For those who do not know what a USB drive is, it is a flash memory data storage device that has been integrated with a Universal Serial Bus 1.1 or 2 interface. It is available in different capacities and one can choose what capacity they want.
The USB drives are somewhat similar to floppy disks, just that they are smaller and better and have a much larger storage capacity than the floppy disks. They are removable and rewritable devices and weigh less than 30g. with the development in science and techniology, the capacity of these USB drives has been increasing steadily and today, USB drives with a storage capacity of up to 256 GB are available.
As already mentioned, the primary use of these devices is very much similar to floppy disks, just that their performance is much better than their earlier counterparts. Transferring data from one place to another has become very simple and easy thanks to the concept of USB drives. All one has to do is insert the USB drive into the first computer, collect the information and then take it to the next computer, plug it in and transfer the information. Though storage capacity up to 256 GB is available, so much memory is not required for normal purposes. Many people prefer to buy USB 4 GB drive. When people buy USB 4 GB drive, it is more than enough to transfer information from one place to another. This is more than enough for students. This is why many students buy USB 4 GB drive.
Roles Of Information Security In Web Browsing
In the present day, many people depend on the Internet for just about everything. Whether it is shopping, looking for information or directions, social media, pay bills and more. Basically it is used for everything, but what the basic user does not know is that the web browser that they might be using isn’t secure. Many people buy a laptop, plug in the power cord, connect to the Internet and they are on there way browsing the World Wide Web. They don’t make any security settings to their web browser, just using the default settings. What they don’t know is that they are leaving their web browser vulnerable for attacks and exploits. That’s were I come in, I am going to discuss the different ways in which web browsing has become secure, the different ways exploits that are being used attack users. I will also talk about the different web browsers and the various security features they offer. Finally, I will give my opinion of which browser I would recommend to my friends, family, and peers. By the end of this article, readers should have an in-depth understanding of web browser security and vulnerabilities/exploits.
What is a Web Browser, and what makes it secure? According to itsecurity.com, a web browser is “a software application that allows the user to view and interact with content on a webpage, such as text, graphics or other materials.” A web browser makes access the Internet literally, one click of a button (maybe, a double click if you use windows). So, what makes web browsers secure? Is it the little lock you get on the top corner of the address bar, or is it the green website certificate that appears? Does security patches and plug-ins really help secure a users web browser? In most cases, security patches updates and security plug-ins can help secure your web browser, but it still doesn’t mean that you are out of the clear for exploits and attacks.
Writers, Dübendorfer Frei and May M. Olimann conducted a recent study, and they found that “approximately 45% of people surfing the Internet were not utilizing the most secure version of their web browser”. This is an astonishing number, when you think that half of the Internet users are not using secure versions of their browsers and the number of hackers that are out there preying on novice users. Users that don’t know that a web browser is like software and it to needs security patches that are vulnerable to attack and exploits. Although most web browser attacks are from “not-trusted” websites, now attackers are exploiting bad security coding, in which, they have had a great deal of success in compromising some trusted websites. One of the various ways hackers do this is by, adding some scripts into the website’s source code. A script that does not change the appearance in anyway, shape or form. These scripts can do various things including, a redirection to another website, tracking and storing cookies and more. When a user gets redirected to another website, they could be downloading dangerous programs/applications to their computer without knowing. According to itsecurity.vermont.gov/threats/web_attacks, they noted that, “April 2008 Panda Labs, a computer security and anti-virus publisher, announced that more than 280,000 web sites had been altered to redirect computers to malicious websites which would attack them in a variety of different ways”. Thus, making it really hard for the average user (who is using IE that is not updated) to be able to be able to distinguish between a trusted and non-trusted website. And hackers aren’t just stopping there; they are getting better and more advance. They are beginning to more to new means of hacking like, smart phones, not just the average desktop or laptop. Some other ways hackers are exploiting certain web browsers are insider attacks, bots, spyware, and web applications exploits.
So know I bet you are wondering what do you have to do to secure your web browser. Well first, maybe make the switch from Internet Explorer to any other browser, except Netscape. Just that step alone could help out with your web browser security. But if you don’t want to make to switch or if you have one of the other web browsers, you could always keep your browser updated by using the latest patches and plug-ins. And not only by keeping your web browser updated, you have to keep your operating system updated with the latest updates. Your antivirus software should always be updated, and applications like MS Office, iTunes, and others should also be frequently updated with the latest version. Make sure that you have a firewall installed. A firewall that is installed in between your CPU and the Internet can help with limiting attacks and traffic that comes in and out of your network. Also, you would need to edit your browser’s security settings. This can be one of the easiest things to do; you could disable Java, JavaScript, and some ActiveX controls. Also, edit your privacy, pop-up blocker and content settings. All of these steps and changes that I stated above could help you secure your web browser and your overall secure experience on the Internet.
Now it is time to evaluate some of the web browsers. I am going to evaluate 5 web browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer, and Safari), in which, I am going to go over some background information and some of the security features that each browser can implement. First, lets start of with Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox is an open source software project; it offers customizable themes, personas, and add-ons. Since Firefox is open source, it means that online security researchers are always involved in fixing bugs and security. They mention on their website, that user should keep their version of Firefox up to date. That they automatically will tell you when that update is necessary, and they also suggests that users update their plug-ins using their new tool that detects outdated plug-ins. Firefox lets its users do private browsing, which is really effective if you want to do online banking using a shared/public computer.

Picking Keywords for SEO – A Different View
The first step to developing any search engine optimization effort is picking keywords. The general consensus is pick keywords with solid amounts of traffic and a minimum of competition. At the risk of being laughed off the Internet, here’s a different view.
Going Big…Going VERY Big
Should you do research to identify keywords receiving lots of traffic? Absolutely. Of this group, should you identify the keywords with the lowest amount of competition? Again, yes. After all, who would be foolish enough to try to attack keywords with a few million competing sites? Well, me for one.
People that go for a keyword phrase like “for sale by owner” [2 million plus searches a month and KEI of 0.000000000...] are often dismissed as amateurs with unrealistic expectations. For those of us that have been in the business for some time, this bias deserves some reconsideration. The motivation is greed…pure and simple greed.
Seo greed is arises when one achieves top listings in Google, Yahoo and MSN for a site. Using the example above, assume the client is a car-listing site and you’ve conquered all the listings for “car for sale by owner.” Yes, it took 15 months, but the client is happy and so are you. Or are you?
After a few weeks, you start thinking, “Damn, I should have gone for the phrase ‘for sale by owner’ and the extra 700,000 searches a month.” You start getting visions of changing the site, but the anchor text in links and so on is already set. In the end, you feel dissatisfied because you want more, damn it!
A Different Approach
Okay, I am not advocating you throw competition analysis out the window. You should absolutely find keywords that have solid traffic and low competition. If nothing else, you need short-term carrots to keep you motivated. That being said, you must also plan for the inherent evil greed in your twisted little seo soul. Don’t even try to deny it.
Here it comes…
I am advocating you go for keywords with monstrous amounts of traffic, competition analysis be damned! Yes, I know. What a fool.
Throwing caution to the wind, I am even going to argue that…[drum roll]…you consider one-word keywords! I know… Blasphemy!…Insanity!…Stupid Moron…etc. But think about it. When you’ve accomplished your goals with low competition keywords, why not have a go at the biggies? What if you get them…even a few?
Putting it all together, my theory is this. Identify the low competition keywords, optimize your site and so on. Just make sure you also throw some “wishful thinking” keywords. If the optimized site survives for three or four years, you might just be thankful you did.
I’m off to optimize for the keyword “travel.” Lets see, Expedia is listed number 1 with a page rank of 8 and 67 thousand back links on Google.
Don’t Let Old Or Pointless Links Drag Your Ranking Down
You know how I know a website is great? When it links to Agloco. Not only is the description of it flawed, i.e. it says ‘get paid to surf online!’ because we all know Agloco paid nobody, but the website doesn’t even exist still.
If you run a website, you must always keep in mind that people can still come to your site to view old posts. Try doing a spring cleaning of your older posts to remove dead links or links to places that are of no use to your readers nowadays.
There are several practical reasons to do this. First of all, on an intangible note, you will be annoying your readers. When you give a link, the only thing that should matter is whether it’s useful to your readers. Too many times do bloggers give links to pages that benefit themselves over their readers.
Secondly, you reduce the number of links that leave your blog. This can help boost your PageRank in the next update. Why bother giving a link to Google Adsense? They really dont need the PageRank as much as you do.
Thirdly, if they’re affiliate links or partnerships that are no longer of use to you, you increase the chance of losing a customer. If you don’t have an affiliate program in your money making plans then you’re best to stop giving them traffic and PageRank. If you really feel you need to keep a link up for relevancy, then at least add the nofollow attribute (look it up) to it.
Do you even look at your old articles? Have you ever thought of spring cleaning your website in these ways, or is this a calling?
Website SEO and Web 2.0
New sites no longer need to be submitted to a search engine to be listed in their results. A link from an established website will get the search engines to visit the new website and spider its contents. It can take a few days or even weeks for search engine spiders to visit and indexing a new site.
Once the search engine has found a new website it will start to index the pages on the site as long as the pages are linked with each other. Pages which are accessible only through Flash or Javascript links are not indexed.
Search engine look at a number of different factors when crawling a web page and many pages may not be indexed by the search engines. The number of links or levels from the root directory of a site is an important factor in whether or not a page gets crawled.
Webmasters can instruct spiders not to index certain files or directories through the standard robots.txt file in the root directory of the domain. Standard practice requires a search engine to check this file when visiting the website A webmaster can use this file to prevent pages such as shopping carts or other dynamic content from appearing in search engine results.
For those search engines with paid submission, it may save some time to pay a nominal fee for submission. Yahoo guarantees inclusion in their search results, but does not guarantee specific ranking within the search results.
Blogs change every thing about how search engines find web pages. A Blog is an online discussion website or a log of a persons thoughts. This allows a webmaster and/or his visitors to voice their opinion on a specific subject in a very friendly and simple way.
Step-By-Step, Do-It-Yourself, SEO Guide
SEO or Search Engine Optimization is one internet marketing strategy that any internet entrepreneur would want for their website. Well maybe except for those that really established a strong name over the web, but as for those that started out in ecommerce would really need to learn about SEO. Let’s get to the point, SEO is used as a way to raise a website’s rank in any search engine like Yahoo! and Google (any of the top 10 slots will do, but It’ll be greater if it would be in top 1). By doing so, the possibility of visitors that visits a website would increase, thus increasing sales and profit margin. So long-story-short, SEO is all about increasing the visibility of a website in the world wide web by use of search engines. Now the question is, how do you do SEO?
SEO companies are now available for hire around the world, such as SEO Philippines companies. Some companies have outsourced their SEO needs to these establishments. But it can also be done by anyone that knows basic SEO procedures, even at home. So here is a step-by-step, do-it-yourself, guide on SEO and how to increase visibility in the world wide web.
Step 1: Get Your Keywords
The first step that any SEO Philippines company would do is to research on keywords that perfectly describes the website. Free online keyword research tools like Google Adwords Keyword tool or SEO Book’s Keyword tool are popularly used by many SEO specialists. Highly competitive keywords is the main ingredient in any successful SEO dish. But highly competitive doesn’t only describe single words such as “SEO”, it also emphasizes on the keyword structure, if it really describes the website like “SEO service in the Philippines”.
Note: In a keyword research, always make sure that the keywords are relevant to the website to be optimized. Irrelevant keywords pointing to a website could earn a one way trip to “Ban“svill courtesy of search engines.
Step 2: Know Your Enemies
Well not exactly “enemies” per-se, but competitors. After doing a keyword research, It’s time to look up on your competitors by use of your chosen keywords. Try looking at what SEO tactics or strategies they’ve done. By viewing their source code (ctrl+U for Firefox), you can see the keyword density, meta tags they used, alt tags, and title tags (I’ll explain these later on). To learn the number backlinks (I’ll explain these later on) of a website, try using SEOpen’s free backlink tool, this way you’ll know what you have to beat to gain their spot. Using your competitor’s strength against them is one successful way to succeed in an SEO campaign.
